getting ready for spring & a special sister visit

We have been working hard in the yard for these past few days~ getting our planting areas prepared.

I am growing and herb/butterfly garden here in the front yard. I hauled all this river rock up from the creek today to line this new area.

I will also be planting Brie's memorial tree around this area~ I am thinking right outside the master bedroom window. I will try and have the tree's here for Tara's visit so we can plant it together. I am also planting one for my friend Crystal and a Carolina Peach tree in honor of Gregg's Dad Al.

planning on cilantro, basil, dill, lavender, forget me not flowers in this area

The trees are starting to bloom everything around is beginning to turn green ;)

I have this scrap metal roofing covering up the ground to kill off any extra grass that is growing in this area. Gardening is REALLY alot of work. But I am so excited to see how my new garden turns out this year.
Tomatoes, watermelon, squash, onions, cucumber

Yes, that is a toilet!!!! I am planning on taking the lid off and using it as a planter for some flowers. My boys think it is terrible and gross but I say COUNTRY FABULOUS :) We should be getting chickens soon~ I have hesitated only because I am afraid they will draw in some wild animals from the woods behind our house. It is pretty creepy to here the coyotes howling at night next to your house.

I bought these chairs so we can all sit out in the back yard for Tara's visit. I was explaining to Logan that we are having visitors here in a couple of weeks and the extra chairs are so we can all sit outside. Logan is excited and happy to know that Tara is my sister and she is ALIVE!! I guess he has had to deal with alot of death in his short life and he is so excited to see his cousins and ALIVE Aunt Tara and Uncle Eric.
